Walking The Mourner’s Path

Walking the Mourners Path rejects the concept of “getting over” a death. Rather, it encourages participants to “get through” it.

While Americans do many things very well, dealing with death is not necessarily among them. Although society has embraced many traditions revolving around death, many times our attempts can be empty or hurtful.

The program follows four steps toward healing:

  • Accepting the reality of the death
  • Experiencing the pain of grief
  •  Adjusting to an environment in which the deceased is missing
  •  Finding a place in your heart to honor and remember your loved one.

The reality of grief is this, complete healing comes from God.

This is a Christ-based, spiritually directed group. Facilitators are not licensed psychological counselors, but are ordained clergy and lay ministers specifically trained to pastorally minster to the bereaved. In no sense do we offer psychological therapy, nor is it permitted.

Walking the Mourner’s Path meets for 8 week sessions periodically throughout the year. Walking the Mourner’s Path at Saint Mark’s typically begins the first week after Easter. If you or someone you know is interested in Walking the Mourner’s Path, please contact the clergy.
