Please note: Saint Mark’s EfM chapter has suspended classes for the 2023-2024 academic year. We hope to resume in fall 2024.

Education for Ministry (EfM) is a unique four-year distance learning certificate program in theological education based upon small-group study and practice. Since its founding in 1975, this international program has assisted more than 80,000 participants in discovering and nurturing their call to Christian service. EfM helps the faithful encounter the breadth and depth of the Christian tradition and bring it into conversation with their experiences of the world as they study, worship, and engage in theological reflection together.

We believe that every baptized person is called to a personal ministry. The EfM program educates you for your ministry. During the Service of Confirmation we ask God to send us into the world with the power of the Holy Spirit to do what is asked of us as Christians. EfM offers an opportunity for you to discover how to respond to your call to Christian service.

A mentored small group meets weekly at Saint Mark’s to study scripture and selected readings, practice theological reflection, and share our stories of God’s Grace. The annual tuition is $375, with some partial scholarships available, and enrollment limited.
