Rector

Danny came to Saint Mark’s in 2008 after serving nine years at Saint John’s in Fort Smith, AR. Danny enjoys preaching, teaching, pastoral care and overseeing the wide variety of ministries at Saint Mark’s.

He has served as an EFM mentor, Christ Care group equipper, Bible study teacher, Centering Prayer Support group leader, and Cursillo Spiritual Director. More than anything, he loves supporting and empowering the laity of Saint Mark’s to do their ministry.

Before entering the priesthood in 1999, Danny practiced law in Helena-West Helena for 16 years after attending the University of Arkansas College of Business and the School of Law. He received his M. Div. from the School of Theology in Sewanee, TN. He and Judy have three grown children, David, Sarah and Laura. When not at St. Mark’s you are likely to find him on one of the many rivers and streams in Arkansas fly fishing or kayaking.

The Reverend Patricia Matthews

The Reverend Patricia Matthews

Associate Rector

Patricia comes to Saint Mark’s after 19 years as the Director of Children and Youth Formation for several Episcopal churches, most recently at Christ Church, Little Rock. She was ordained a priest in 2016 and is excited to broaden her role in the church.

Patricia loves teaching and learning. In 2016, she graduated from the Iona Initiative through the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin. She was an English major in college, with a particular love for poetry. She also loves preaching and attended the Preaching Excellence Program. Patricia is trained in stewardship development, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, dream work, and is a certified yoga instructor. She has also served on the House of Prayer board and chaired the Keller Fund for Mission.

Patricia is married to James Matthews and has three children. Dillon is 15, Zoë is 12, and Louisa is 5. The whole family loves creating things, digging in the dirt, and chasing their two chickens around the yard.

The Reverend Michael T. McCain

The Reverend Michael T. McCain

Associate Rector

Father Michael is a native of Little Rock and is excited to return to his hometown to serve as Associate Rector at Saint Mark’s. He earned his M.Div. from the School of Theology at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.

Before Seminary he attended the University of Arkansas earning a B.S.B.A in Finance with Minors in Economics and Religious Studies. He spent a few years in the business world working for Amazon.com in Lexington, Kentucky and the McLarty Companies in Little Rock.

Michael is a lifelong Episcopalian and was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral growing up. He attended Episcopal schools throughout his childhood and is a proud graduate of Saint Mark’s Day School.

In addition to serving Saint Mark’s, Michael enjoys spending time with family and friends, working on his yard, and playing with his dogs Bella and Winnie.

The Reverend Susan Lyon

The Reverend Susan Lyon

Deacon

Susan Loy Lyon was born in St. Louis and baptized on Easter Sunday. After growing up in Illinois, she was graduated from Colorado College with majors in art and pre-med/dental, including a heavy dose of music (primarily pipe organ). She then studied at The University of Texas Dental School in Houston, earning her D.D.S. degree. Though retired from dentistry, Susan has participated in numerous medical mission trips in Haiti and Mexico.

After a long spiritual journey, and as a result of taking organ lessons at Saint Mark’s, she “came home” to The Episcopal Church and was confirmed in 1992. Susan is grateful to the Episcopal community for their persistent support of her calling to the diaconate.

She is a graduate of the three year Iona Initiative and delighted to serve as deacon at Saint Mark’s. Today, Susan enjoys her bicycle (named “Linus”), music, art, and “roughing it” in the outdoors with her three sons and daughter-in-law.

The Reverend Joanna Seibert

The Reverend Joanna Seibert

Deacon

Dr. Joanna Seibert is a retired professor of radiology and pediatrics at Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH) and the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences and has been an ordained deacon for 15 years.

She is the author of several books and has been a writer for Forward, Day by Day. She is a frequent retreat leader and facilitator and trainer for the Community of Hope and Walking the Mourner’s Path and has served on the board of the Episcopal National Recovery Ministries and presently is on the Board and Board of Visitors of Camp Mitchell.

Joanna and her husband have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren and have lived in Little Rock for 40 years. Coming back to Saint Mark’s is coming home. This is the church where her children were raised and where she made a commitment to a Christian Rule of Life.

Tim Allen

Organist & Choirmaster

Tim was born and brought up in St. Albans, England. He attended St. Albans School and studied the organ at St. Albans Cathedral. In 1981 he was elected as Organ Scholar at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, where he completed his degree in music and studied organ with Nicholas Kynaston.

In 2001, Tim took up residence in St. Louis. It was there that he met and fell in love with a young soprano, Christine Westhoff, and they were married in 2004. Tim and Christine moved to Little Rock in 2006, where their daughter, Cecilia, was born in 2009. Christine is enjoying a burgeoning career as a concert soprano and maintains a busy schedule.

Parish Administrator

Karen has been parish administrator at Saint Mark’s since June, 1997. She keeps financial records, oversees buildings and grounds and provides administrative support to the clergy.

Karen is a “people” person. Before her call to Saint Mark’s, Karen worked as an executive secretary for a local telephone company and as a fidelity & surety bondwriter for a major insurance company.

In her playtime, you will find Karen and her husband on the banks of the Arkansas River or taking care of their mini-farm.

Luke Gilbert

Family Ministries Coordinator

Luke Gilbert is Saint Mark’s Family Ministries Coordinator. He graduated from Westminster College with a degree in Psychology in 1994. Two years later, he was hired as Saint Mark’s Youth Minister, and has been here ever since.

Luke is married to his best friend Sydney. He enjoys golf, movies, sports (especially the Razorbacks), reading a good book, and spending time alone with God. Please feel free to contact Luke with any questions about Saint Mark’s children, youth, or young adult programming.

Ashley Haggard

Ashley Haggard

Youth Minister

Ashley is a cradle Episcopalian brought up in the Diocese of Oklahoma. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Journalism in 2009. She has been in youth ministry since 2009 and at Saint Mark’s since 2015.

When not working with youth Ashley loves spending time with family and friends, cooking, watching Sooner football, traveling, reading and hanging out with her dogs Cricket and Leon.

Linda King

Linda King

Discipleship & Evangelism Coordinator

Linda King as our new Discipleship and Evangelism Coordinator, supporting the ministries that keep our church community vibrant: newcomers hospitality, adult learning, social activities, and other programs led by our talented and energetic members. Linda grew up in Dallas, Texas and is a lifelong Episcopalian. She has been a member of St. Mark’s for three years.

Linda has degrees in biomedical engineering and theology, with a life long background in non-profit work including counseling, teaching, and administration. She describes her calling as meeting people wherever they are and giving them what they need to grow into who they were created to be.

In addition to her position here, she will continue her work as the Outreach Coordinator for St. Francis
House.

Parish Secretary and Communications

Linda is a cradle Episcopalian. She and her family have been members of Saint Mark’s since 1977. Linda and her husband have two grown children and two spoiled standard poodles.

When she’s not working at Saint Mark’s, you can probably find her at her loom working on her latest weaving project or out playing with her four honeybee colonies.

Jan Mauldin

Jan Mauldin

Parish Bookkeeper

Jan grew up in Arkadelphia and attended Henderson State University. She worked as Office Manager and Bookkeeper for a Little Rock law firm for 36 years prior to retiring. Coming out of retirement in October, 2018 she accepted the position of Bookkeeper at Saint Mark’s.

Jan has been a member of Saint Mark’s for 38 years where she has served on the Vestry and was Senior Warden when Bishop Benfield was the Interim Rector at Saint Mark’s. She also has served on the Altar Guild for 37 years and is a Lay Eucharistic Minister.

Traveling and being outdoors are among her favorite activities. But she especially enjoys spending time with her son’s and daughter’s families being “Granjan” to 4 grandchildren.

Sexton

Cedric Gaither has held the title of Sexton for the past five years. In his spare time he has also held a job as a chef for a catering company and has fed and clothed the homeless every week at various charities. He is the proud father of six children, one of which is in her freshman year of college and one in his senior year of high school. Recently his baby girl was baptized here at Saint Marks. Although raised in Memphis, Tennessee Cedric has called Little Rock, Arkansas home for the past 20 years. He looks forward to many more years here at Saint Marks.
